Welcome to Day 1 of Wasabi Entertainment.

This may be a new company, but we’re certainly not new to entertainment. Wasabi is the original content division of Relish Interactive. Founded 10 years ago, Relish has been building apps, games, websites, videos, and other interactive digital experiences with some of the biggest brands in the world such as NFL, Nickelodeon, PBS, Nelvana, Dell, and Salesforce.

Five years ago, the team at Relish set out to create original content in a new way that merged gaming, publishing, and animation. The love child of this effort resulted in the release of Weirdwood Manor, which went on to be a great success both commercially and critically. It made Apple’s “Best of 2015” and was named iPad app of the Year Runner-up. The app also went on to win numerous other kids and family industry awards such as Kidscreen, Banff World Media Festival, and “Production of the Year” at the Youth Media Alliance Awards.

Embracing the success of Weirdwood Manor (and the fun we had doing it), we decided we’d continue making these types of rich storyworlds. Wasabi Entertainment will be a new kind of studio — one that is focused on creating original multiplatform IP. This represents a natural next step for us as we continue to push the boundaries of good storytelling and emergent technology.

Russ Uttley

Relish founders — Paul Pattison and Sacha Raposo — are heading up the studio along with veteran storyteller and creator Russ Uttley, who is Wasabi’s Chief Creative Officer and is leading our team of daring dreamers, creative thinkers, storytellers, technical magicians, and all-round problem solvers in telling stories and making world-class linear and interactive entertainment.

Together, we’re working to make storytelling a new adventure for audiences who are eager for immersive experiences across all platforms and devices — from film and tv to books and games and beyond…

We have big things in the works, having spent the last six months developing an exciting slate of captivating new worlds to get lost in and finding the right partners to help bring them to life. We hope you love them as much as we do.

Here we go!
